Ann Curry

Ann Curry has worked as a journalist for nearly 45 years. She focuses her reporting on natural disasters and war zones. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese and her father is an US Navy Sargent. Her father met the mother of her in Japan while he was stationed there following World War II. Following her graduation from the University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism in 1978. Curry was not able to be a student at a particular school in Alameda, San Diego Oregon, or Virginia over the course of two years, due to her family was constantly moving. Curry graduated in Ashland the high school. In Medford where she began her broadcasting career with KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. at the age of 22, she was able to become the station's first female reporter. In Portland in Oregon, she was appointed anchor as well as a reporter for KGW the NBC affiliate. After moving to Los Angeles, she became an anchor and reporter for KCBS TV just four years after moving into the city. In the course of her work with the channel for a period of the duration of six years that she won the two Emmy Awards.
